Breaking Barriers, Building Futures: Cal Poly's Annual Defining Her Future Conference

The Preforming Arts Center at Cal Poly was packed full of ambitious and dedicated female college students on March 7, 2025. 

Hosted by the Cal Poly Women in Business Association, Defining Her Future is an annual conference for young professionals to develop connections and learn from industry professionals. 

“It’s such an amazing experience to work with a group of girls who are so passionate about professionalism and personal development. It’s really helped me grow my skills,” said Lead Logistics Coordinator Rae Butler-Wu. 

The conference featured keynote speaker Mrinalini Ingram, the former CEO and president of Verizon Smart Communities. Panels offered at the conference included professionals from Adobe, NBC, and the San Luis Obispo City Government. 

Alongside opportunities to listen to featured speakers, the conference offered interactive workshops, free headshots, and a complimentary lunch. 

Admission to the event was free for Cal Poly students and faculty, resulting in a large turnout and $361 raised for FireAid.
